In accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus, the current Government System in Cyprus is the Presidential System, with Greek-Cypriot President and Turkish-Cypriot Vice-President of the Republic.

The President of the Republic, who takes precedence over all persons in the Republic of Cyprus, as the Head of State:

(a) Represents the Republic at any official event.
b) signs the credentials of diplomatic envoys and accepts the credentials of foreign diplomatic envoys.
(c) signs the acts ratifying international treaties, conventions and/or agreements.
(d) awards the honorary distinctions of the Republic of Cyprus.
