Any person who, directly or indirectly uses or threatens to use force or curtails, or imposes or threatens to impose secular or spiritual harm, damage or loss on any person to influence or force to vote or to abstain from voting or by kidnapping, coercion or any deception obstructs the free exercise of the right of the voter to vote or forces, deceives or influences the voter in order to vote or abstain from voting in elections, is guilty of a criminal offence for unlawful influence.
Anyone with corruption intent supplies or pays the costs of supplying food and beverages is guilty of the offence of illegal catering.
Anyone who, before or during an election, publishes a false account of facts relating to the personal character or conduct of a candidate with a view to influencing the election of this candidate. Anyone who, before or during an election, publishes a false declaration of the alleged withdrawal of any candidate, with a view to putting forward and promoting the election of a particular candidate, is guilty of the criminal offence of acts of corruption and inappropriate influence and, if convicted, shall be liable to imprisonment for several months and a fine and/or deprivation of the right to vote.


Prohibition of electoral gatherings
No person shall organise or take part in any public gathering to hear any speech or debate on any matter directly or indirectly related to the elections on the day of the vote or the eve of the elections.


Ban on political advertising
No person may broadcast, advertise or publish any news or communication, whether paid or unpaid, directly or indirectly linked to the elections on the day preceding the voting day and during the vote, except for communications or news broadcast by the Chief Returning Officer or by his or her own authorisation.

Election campaign teams, banners and posters are prohibited
On voting day or the day before the elections, no person may set up or keep tables or election campaign teams outside polling stations, or display or post any posters, signs and banners directly or indirectly linked to the election. Offenders of the above provisions of the Electoral Law shall be guilty of a criminal offence and, if convicted, shall be liable to imprisonment and a fine.
