Turkish-Cypriots, holders of an identity card from the Republic of Cyprus, with an address in the free areas, who have registered on the permanent electoral roll, have the right to participate at all national elections and are allocated to polling stations in the free areas in the same way as the other Cypriot electors.

Turkish Cypriots residing in areas where the Government of the Republic does not exercise effective control and hold an identity card of the Republic of Cyprus issued by the civil registry system, shall be automatically entered on a Special Electoral Roll and may vote for the election of Members of the European Parliament at special polling stations operating for this purpose in areas adjacent to the ceasefire line. Unlike the other voters, these voters are not allocated to specific polling stations and may vote at any special polling station. To avoid the possibility of duplicate voting, an electronic electoral roll shall be used at these stations.
