Elections for the nomination of Members of the School Boards shall be held every five (5) years at the same time as the General Municipal Elections. Elections concern only municipalities, whereas in the Communities School Boards are made up of the members of the Community Council.

The School Boards of the Municipalities are composed of 11 members, seven (7) of which are elected and the other four (4) are appointed by the municipal council from among its members as its representatives. In the Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca School Boards, which are responsible for over fifty (50) schools, ten (10) members are elected and five (5) members are appointed by the municipal council.
